Here’s our round-up of all the action... MVG TRIUMPHS IN MUNICH Michael van Gerwen ended a six-month trophy drought in style by winning the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich on Monday night. The world number three opened his title account for 2025 after beating his fellow Dutchman Gian van Veen 8-5 in the final yesterday. The victory marked a record-extending 38th European Tour title for van Gerwen, who also hit a nine-dart leg during the tournament, striking perfection in his third-round clash with Ryan Searle. I’ve battled against myself recently. “In the last few weeks I’ve been playing poorly. I know I have it in me, but you want to show it week after week, and I also put pressure on myself. “This means the world to me. On the final day, van Gerwen produced an exceptional display of finishing as he hit an impressive 19 of his 25 attempts at doubles in victories over Searle (6-1), Ryan Joyce (6-4) and Josh Rock (7-2). Meanwhile, van Veen’s run to a second European Tour final saw him pick up wins against Rene Eidams (6-2), Andrew Gilding (6-4), Martin Schindler (6-4), Ross Smith (6-3) and Luke Littler (7-4). The reigning PDC world youth champion averaged an incredible 110.81 in his semi-final triumph over Littler, before being edged out again by van Gerwen in a repeat of their Hungarian Darts Trophy final meeting last season. DOBEY BOOSTS PLAY-OFF HOPES Chris Dobey reignited his Premier League play-off hopes after picking up his first nightly victory of the year in Rotterdam last Thursday. ‘Hollywood’ defeated Luke Humphries, Nathan Aspinall and Stephen Bunting to triumph in the Netherlands last week and clinch the maximum five points on offer.
