Big time darts made a successful return to Bolton as the Darts Corner UKDA National Finals Weekend took place at the Bolton Stadium Hotel. The venue at Bolton Wanderers FC, which had played host to the UK Open from 2003 to 2013, welcomed back competitive darts with the UKDA’s three-day season finale being held there at the weekend. Pruim checked out 108 in the deciding leg to win the title for her team. Meanwhile, Oxfordshire’s Sean Holley and Shane Turner teamed up to win the UKDA Men’s National Pairs title. A high-quality final against the Gwent pairing of Sam Cankett and Nick Kenny saw all but one leg finished in 15 darts or less. With the final locked at 2-2 in legs, Holley took out finishes of 116 and 50 in the next two legs to complete a 4-2 win and secure the title. On Saturday, Suffolk’s Jo Locke came through a field of 160 players to retain her UKDA Women’s Singles title. The former PDC Women’s Series finalist dropped just two legs on her way to the semi-finals, before seeing off Filly Blay (4-2) and one half of the women’s pairs champions Pruim (5-2) to successfully regain the trophy she won 12 months earlier. On Sunday, a field of 221 players took part in the UKDA Men’s Singles and once again it was the defending champion who walked away with the trophy. The 2023 winner Jim Williams retained his crown with a 6-2 victory over David Gradwell in the final. The PDC tour card holder kicked off his title defence with back-to-back 100 averages and reeled off seven straight wins to keep hold of the men’s singles trophy. The weekend of action concluded with the UKDA Women’s Champions Cup which was won by Hillingdon, who got the better of Little Oak in the final.
